Description: The John McAleer House is a two-story wood frame double house with simplified Italianate ornamentation. Large dental molding sits beneath the soffit and ornaments the entire building. Built as a rental in 1902-1903, the house is divided in two units, each displaying a three-bay side hall plan. The West half of the house features twin parlors downstairs and 3 bedrooms upstairs. Many original features such as mantels and moldings survived. The entire building was rehabilitated under the auspices of the National Park Service and Georgia State program for historic preservation. All new HVAC systems were installed, the entire building was re-wired and re-plumbed, the foundation was stabalized, and rear porches and rear doors were replaced.
